Oh mystic saint, we humbly pray,
Grant us the strength to live through the day,
Help us dwell on each hour of quiet,
In visions ethereal, we see the light!
Oh patroness of the sick and religious,
Of pious souls so ridiculed,
Be with us in our torment,
As we, our faith, do build!
Thy passion with saints and martyrs,
The prayerful seclusion you sought,
The reward of religious ecstasy,
The scourging at the pillar hath brought!
Oh St Teresa of Avila, pray for us,
Courage we may have, to follow,
By grace of spiritual contemplation,
God's vision with each new 'morrow.
